19 czerwca przed godziną 23:00 do oficera dyżurnego z Komendy Powiatowej Policji w Brzegu wpłynęło zgłoszenie, z którego wynikało, że mężczyzna chce się targnąć na własne życie. 28-latek miał się pożegnać z bliskimi i wyjść z domu informując, że popełni samobójstwo.

W związku ze zgłoszeniem Komendant Powiatowy Policji w Brzegu zarządził alarm dla całej jednostki. Zaangażowani policjanci sprawdzili wszystkie miejsca, gdzie mężczyzna mógł się oddalić: rejon Odry, miejskie parki zieleni, dworzec kolejowy i torowisko.

Około godziny 1:30 funkcjonariusze odnaleźli mężczyznę tuż przy torowisku, ukrytego w zaroślach. Dzięki szybkim działaniom policjantów 28-latkowi nic się nie stało.
