Mnóstwo emocji, wysiłku i uśmiechów na twarzy – tak można podsumować V Regaty Smoczych Łodzi, zorganizowane 24 czerwca przez Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji w Brzegu.

W sobotę na Marinie Brzeg stawiło się 12 załóg, reprezentujących firmy i instytucje, ale też grupy znajomych. Mimo padającego w pierwszej części imprezy deszczu, każdej ekipie towarzyszyło liczne grono kibiców zagrzewające swoich faworytów do walki i atmosfera była naprawdę gorąca. Zawody otworzył burmistrz Jerzy Wrębiak, który był jednocześnie uczestnikiem regat w ekipie Urzędu Miasta.

Rywalizacja podzielona była na dwie kategorie: open oraz mieszaną (z udziałem co najmniej czterech wiosłujących pań). Po pierwszej serii biegów wyłonili się faworyci do zwycięstwa i miejsc na podium, ale jak pokazały decydujące przejazdy – losy medali ważyły się do ostatniej chwili, a różnice na mecie mierzone były w setnych sekundy.

Ostatecznie w kategorii open zwyciężyła reprezentacja Brzeskiego Przedsiębiorstwa Energetyki Cieplnej, która w bezpośrednim biegu o ponad sekundę wyprzedziła Straż Pożarną, odrabiając z nawiązką straty z pierwszego biegu. Trzecie miejsce obroniła załoga Zakładu Higieny Komunalnej i podejrzewamy, że duża w tym zasługa najliczniejszej i najgłośniejszej grupy fanów ekipy ZHK, która dodawała wioślarzom

Na koniec więc wszyscy dostali w nagrodę medale: drużyny z podium w odpowiednich kolorach: złotym, srebrnym i brązowym, a pozostali uczestnicy – równie efektowne pamiątkowe medale.

Komandorem regat był Jacek Zajączkowski, który przy wsparciu pracowników MOSiR-u przygotował całą imprezę od a do zet, a w trakcie zawodów podczas kilku biegów był też sternikiem. Łodziami sterowali także Dominik Zagórowicz i Marian Kwieciński. Podziękowania należą się również sędziemu głównemu: Marianowi Pawlakowi, którego wspomagali: Henryk Knera, Robert Karlikowski, Bartosz Tokarz i Łukasz Kaszuba.

Organizatorzy mieli bezcenne wsparcie w postaci wolontariuszy: Roberta Okoniewskiego, Violetty Semczuk, Ewy Zajączkowskiej, Aleksandry Zajączkowskiej i Tomasza Modzelewskiego.

O bezpieczeństwo uczestników dbali jak zwykle niezawodni ratownicy ze Stowarzyszenia Ratownictwo Wodne Brzeg. Organizatorzy ślą podziękowania również darczyńcom i sponsorom, którymi byli: Bartling Polska, Bank Spółdzielczy w Brzegu, VPK Packaging Polska, Aquila Brzeg i Zakład Higieny Komunalnej, jak również Tomaszowi Michalskiemu z firmy Tomson za oprawę graficzną.
