W ostatnich dniach temperatury spadły znacznie poniżej zera. W takich warunkach należy zwracać szczególną uwagę na osoby bezdomne i potrzebujące, które mogą być narażone na wychłodzenie organizmu. Pomoc w takich sytuacjach oferują Strażnicy Miejscy i pracownicy MOPS-u, regularnie patrolujący i odwiedzający opuszczone miejsca.
We wtorek (9 stycznia) do Straży Miejskiej w Brzegu dotarło zgłoszenie od pracownika Ochrony Kolei, iż na dworcu PKP w Brzegu przebywa przemarznięta osoba bezdomna. O zaistniałej sytuacji poinformowano również pracowników Miejskiego Ośrodka Pomocy Społecznej. Patrol Straży Miejskiej udał się na miejsce i po rozmowie z kobietą w średnim wieku uzyskał informację, iż aktualnie nie ma ona gdzie się podziać, a na brzeskim dworcu przebywa już drugi dzień. Kobieta oświadczyła tylko, że jest jej zimno i jest głodna. Osoba bezdomna została przewieziona do siedziby monitoringu Straży Miejskiej w Brzegu, gdzie zjawiły się również pracownice MOPS-u. Kobiecie podano jedzenie i ciepłą herbatę, aby mogła się rozgrzać, jednocześnie szukając dla niej miejsca, w które mogłaby się udać.
Następnie skontaktowano się z matką kobiety, która oświadczyła, że przyjmie córkę do domu. Po konsultacjach Zastępcy Komendanta Straży Miejskiej w Brzegu Adama Bieleckiego z pracownikami MOPS-u i za zgodą Burmistrza Brzegu Jerzego Wrębiaka kobieta została odwieziona radiowozem Straży Miejskiej do swojej matki, mieszkającej w miejscowości Baborów.
To zdarzenie zakończyło się pozytywnie, ale osób potrzebujących w naszym otoczeniu może być znacznie więcej. Nie bądźmy obojętni i zwracajmy uwagę na drugiego człowieka, któremu trzeba pomóc w tym trudnym czasie. Wystarczy jeden telefon, aby uratować komuś życie!
